In EUSD, every student is a music maker! And at all five middle schools, dozens of dedicated musicians are proud members of the concert band, playing wind, brass, and percussion instruments. Under the direction of credentialed music teachers, our students gain valuable skills as they learn to read music, play an instrument, and perform together. We are so proud of these young musicians, who demonstrated their artistic skills on Tuesday in the professional setting of the Concert Hall at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

Hidden Valley Families, Please join us for our third Parents’ Day Lunch this Friday, April 19, 2024 The lunch schedule is as follows: 1st Lunch 11:44-12:14 2nd Lunch 12:32-1:02 We are requesting that you bring lunch only for your student. Plan ahead, give yourself ample time to pick up your food, park, and sign in at the gate. Lunch is only 30 minutes. Use the entrance through the solar panel gate only. The gate will open at 11:30 a.m. We hope you can join us! Eclipse safety: The United States will experience a solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, as the moon passes between Earth and the sun. While some areas will witness a total eclipse, when the moon entirely covers the sun, Escondido will experience a 53 percent eclipse, with the moon beginning to cover the sun around 10 a.m., reaching maximum coverage at 11:12 a.m., and moving away from the sun by 12:20 p.m. Ensuring eye safety is the top priority during an eclipse. Observing an eclipse without proper eye protection can cause severe retina damage instantly. EUSD has shared information on how to safely view the eclipse with students and the importance of not viewing the eclipse directly. We will not be allowing the use of any glasses for viewing the eclipse unless they meet certification standards. Ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the sun. Teachers who will be using this rare opportunity as a learning experience will review safety guidelines before going outside on April 8. Learning experiences – including viewing the eclipse indirectly and observing shadows on the ground created by the eclipse – will be connected to the scientific concept of why solar eclipses occur. Here is some additional eclipse guidance from pediatricians with HealthyChildren.org. In addition, a NASA live stream will be available.
